use the description field to tag your google docs
tagging has been at the top of my feature wish list for google docs for a while. Of course I can use docs' collections feature to establish a primary category, but creating additional collections for different purposes makes my hierarchy pretty crowded. This post from the googleapps blog is a "duh" moment – create as many tags as you want in the description field, and bingo – documents searchable by tag.

perfect world, i like tag lists to ensure conformity, but this is a good start.

what to do with people you don't know and who have nothing interesting to say on g+

at first I wasn't sure what to do with people I didn't know who put me in circles on g+. flattered? sure, but sometimes I'd look at the profiles and see they had nothing to say or, worse, had a lot to say about stuff I didn't care about. I have described my probies folder – that's where all these unknowns go. from time to time I will take a peek in there to see if anything piques my interest. I've gotten some good folks with this methodology, but there are lots more who start as a question mark and quickly prove themselves to be whatever punctuation denoting ick.

so I started blocking. it seemed very terminal at first, but it gets easier. just keep telling yourself that it's your social channel.
